If you are wondering why Yoga is not accessible to everyone yet, this will inspire you!
YogaMakes a Difference is a project dreamt by Caroline Westling and Ratheesh Mani. To bring yoga training into the world for free and create a chain reaction of giving back what is also given to us. There can be no improvement in societies if we only keep taking care of our own achievements.
Caroline and Ratheesh offer a 10 day (approximately 60 hours) yoga training in which the only request is that students give back at least one yoga class for free a week to his or her community. From here it is easy to be creative: we can imagine reaching out to communities and institutions that might not yet acknowledge the benefits of yoga or who couldn’t otherwise afford to pay for classes. They teach not only a physical aspect of yoga but explain philosophical aspects of yoga which are not well known widely in the western countries. Training contains asanas practice and philosophy.
Yoga is an ancient tradition from the east and it has indeed survived many cultural changes and has itself evolved into different schools of thought. However its core remains the same, only the package differs. With YogaMakes, Caroline and Ratheesh want to prove that yoga is (or should be) accessible to everyone and that it doesn’t consist of an “out of reach mystical philosophy” but a very practical method that brings us closer to our everyday life.
YogaMakes a Difference is an opportunity for many to deepen their own knowledge and practice of yoga as well as a perfect motivational push to start sharing and inspire other interested people who might otherwise not have the possibility.
The idea of YogaMakes is also to build a sense of community where we can come together and support each other. Once the training is over we are all invited to keep the karma yoga alive and continue to share.
Until now the trainings have taken place in Stockholm, Barcelona and Berlin. The level of dedication and enthusiasm from everyone involved (from the organization crew to the participants) was overwhelming.
YogaMakes has 7 other countries on their waiting list, but it will not end there either. Now they are reaching out through crowd funding to ask for support from anyone who has already participated and wants to give others the same experience or anyone who resonates with this project and also wants to see changes happening around them.
The campaign is now on and will be up until the 8th of June 2016!
Caroline and Ratheesh are both very dedicated yogis and parents. They know the importance of bridging these two worlds. They understand the benefits of a regular yoga practice. They have embodied the yogic tradition of the east and want above all to be engaged in the community by putting down corner stones for the generations that follow. There is no benefit in viewing life from our own short lifespan.
They are not only calling out to a healthier mind and body, but also, and more importantly to a more united, compassionate and driven society. One that holds free of judgments and creates a safe space for creative expressions to come to surface.
Everyone contributes with what they know best, and Caroline and Ratheesh know Yoga best.
The benefits are undeniable to anyone who embarks in this journey.
